ACF Offers “Clearinghouse” Seminars For
High School Prospects

One of the most difficult and confusing phases of college recruiting is determining the eligibility of prospective college student-athletes. The NCAA has attempted to solve a lot of the problems by forming an independent clearinghouse which will collect all academic information on prospective student-athletes and determine their eligibility to participate in NCAA division I and division II college athletics. While having one central agency to control eligibility has solved some problems it has created some other problems – particularity with the student-athletes. A high percentage of these student-athletes either don’t know or don’t understand all the NCAA academic requirements or the rules regarding the Clearinghouse. Many don’t understand that they are required to register with the Clearinghouse before they can be recruited for NCAA D1 or D2 athletics and that their coaches or guidance counselors can’t register for them. This year there are new core course requirements and also an Amateur Status form that must be submitted by every athlete. Parents are even less informed than the students are.

In our effort to continue to educate coaches, prospects, and parents of prospects on the issues involving college recruiting, ACF will begin offering free seminars on the subject of the NCAA Clearinghouse to high schools, booster clubs, and athletic groups. These seminars are free of charge and will be presented by a Clearinghouse expert who is certified by ACF. All potential college prospects and their parents are invited to attend. We will cover all rules and regulations regarding the Clearinghouse and show every athlete in attendance how to properly register.

This is a great opportunity for your group to do something worthwhile for young athletes who may be embarking on their dream of playing college athletics. Understanding the rules and getting registered with the Clearinghouse is one of their first and most important steps. Please contact us by e-mail americancoaches@bellsouth.net if you would like to talk to us about scheduling a seminar for your group.
