The Emerging Popularity of Recruiting Seminars

College athletic recruiting has become more complex and more competitive than ever largely due to the emergence of a tremendous increase of outstanding student-athletes at the high school level. This means that college coaches have more potential prospects to scout and evaluate before they make their recruiting choices. NCAA, and now NAIA, eligibility registration requirements, along with tougher rules and academic requirements have made it potentially confusing to many, if not most, prospective college student-athletes and their parents. High school guidance counselors, and even the coaches, rarely keep up to date with recruiting rules, regulations, and college recruiting procedures. This means that there is a potential for giving out the wrong or outdated advice, which could actually damage a student-athlete's chances to be recruited...(Read more)

ACF Membership - Why Should I Join?

If you are an active or retired coach chances are that you already belong to a coaches association – probably one that represents the sport that you specialize in. You also probably joined that organization because "it was the expected thing to do" for all coaches in that association's particular sport. You don't really get anything for joining except maybe special insurance rates – if you're in the market for some specialized insurance policies – and an invitation to their annual convention. So if you already belong to a coaches association of your sport, why would you want to also belong to American Coaches Federation? We too offer our members the standard group discounts on various things and try to make sure our members receive a monetary value from their membership; however, there is a much greater purpose that our members want to achieve. That purpose, for every member, is to personally state a commitment to the highest standards associated with the athletic coaching profession. For the past decade it has been generally recognized that if you are an ACF member you have been accepted into our organization because you have made a personal commitment to live by and practice these high standards. These standards include:

  • Good moral character
  • Professional excellence in teaching and instruction
  • Fairness and sportsmanship
  • Honesty and integrity in dealing with players and fellow coaches
  • Compassion and empathy when confronted with difficult situations

This is why coaches are members of our organization. These standards of the organization are printed on your membership certificate and, as an ACF member; you will be recognized for these attributes. Your membership is something you can display and advertise with pride.
